positive response
a market is a good place to ‘test’ new designs…
yesterday I was at the Liskids winter market, the premiere of my new pillow cover designs, I’m happy they got lots of positive response!
it was cold and it took me a few hours to defrost afterwards but despite the weather we had a nice day,
I shared a stand with Erika of Mikodesign (http://mikodesign NULL.blogspot NULL.com/), the bunny & I love paris doll on the picture below are two of her super nice designs

woonbeurs 2011 favourites
what I really liked about our day at the Woonbeurs (interior-design fair) was…
finally seeing a lot of my favourite designs in ‘real life’, like the Tilestove and Outdooroven by Weltevree, the Scholten Baijings dotted rugs and the SlowWood tables - absolute favourite was the Bird City by Eveline Visser – and I could not resist treating myself to a Studio MHL necklace

this weekend it’s time again for one of my favorite Rotterdam festivals: ’Wereld van Witte de With’

just married – do it yourself
Juliette (my sister) and Martijn got married Friday, it was a fantastic day with a beautiful ceremony, great people, delicious cava, cake, macarons, lots of smiles and also lots of do-it-yourself items, here are some we made:
40 large pink and white pom poms – photo props (black foamboard + wooden skewer) – wedding bouquet and flower arrangements in all kinds of vases – masking tape heart – A4 coloring book - doodles on the car windows (with posca markers)

great day at Swan market
It was the premiere of the diy pinwheel set and the new card designs. A lot of nice comments, compliments and sales, thank you! and even some new ideas for the use of the pinwheel > to scare pigeons from your balcony, nice. They will be for sale in my shop within a few days.

holy week in Málaga
just back from a week of holiday in Málaga, my city of birth
we were there mainly for the holy (easter) week and it’s beautiful processions. unfortunately a lot of the processions were cancelled due to the bad weather (rain on the Costa del Sol!) but it still was amazing to be there… nice food, vibes, views and company + lots of inspiration - if you’re planning to visit Málaga in the near future I would gladly give you some tips
note: the green and white candy is an image of the garment worn by some of the participants in the catholic processions. these robes were widely used in the middle ages, penitents could demonstrate their penance while still masking their identity (unfortunately this type of hood nowadays is mainly associated with another organization)

I can still exactly remember the great illustrations, but even more the words:
The time has come. The time is now. Just Go. GO! I don’t care how.
You can go by foot. You can go by cow. … etc.

Latest project: a postcard and two smaller cards for Broer & Zus (‘brother & sister’) a really nice online shop for kids clothes owned by Roos.

kidscare
Just finished these designs for Kidscare, a non-profit organization my friend Astrid runs together with her family.
Kidscare supports small rural communities in Kenia that are committed to giving orphans a better future. They provide education, medical care and make sure the orphans are treated as equals within their (new) family. I think it’s a great initiative and was glad to help them by designing a logo and leaflet. charlotte and mathilde
a pattern for Nicole Kolberg, a designer of everyday objects from Germany
she presented some beautiful porcelain cups called ‘Charlotte’ and ‘Mathilde’ on a fair in November and asked me if I would like to design a pattern for the packaging, inspired by fruit wrapping papers and the doll faces that will be on the cups
my first project with communication by email only & it worked out perfectly

van eigen erf
yesterday we had dinner at Hoeve Biesland
a farm in Delfgauw that’s really committed to farming with respect for animals and the natural surroundings of the farm
twice a year they organize ‘van eigen erf’ > a short farm tour and dinner in the barn (all food is biological), long tables in between the cows including all sounds and smells :-)
great experience and the most friendly people
